Dr. Ali Khajehoddin
Founder and CEO
Dr. Ali Khajehoddin is the Founder and CEO of Enerbund. A serial entrepreneur and expert in power electronics and control systems, he has extensive industrial experience in designing and commercializing advanced power converters and energy storage solutions. Dr. Khajehoddin was previously involved in and co-founded several start-ups in the area of energy systems, including SPARQ Systems (SPRQ: TSX), an academic spin-off from his PhD thesis on solar microinverters at Queen’s University, and two other start-ups in the area of power converter systems, power analyzers, and smart metering products. Building on over a decade of research and development, he founded Enerbund as a spin-off from the University of Alberta Power Electronics Lab (UAPEL), where he also serves as a Senior University of Alberta Engineering Research Chair (UAERC) and a full professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Dr. Khajehoddin is an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics and IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification, and he holds over 60 patents and is an author or co-author of more than 150 journal and conference papers.
Dr. Mohammad Ebrahimi
Co-Founder, VP of Grid Technologies
Dr. Mohammad Ebrahimi is the Vice President of Grid Technologies and a co-founder at Enerbund. He received his PhD from the University of Alberta in Power Electronics and brings over 15 years of experience in designing and implementing advanced power electronics converters. Dr. Ebrahimi has led inverter R&D activities and product developments, including 5kW–45kW inverters for industrial and residential applications, with a focus on maximizing efficiency, reliability, and performance. An expert in converter control, he has developed patented control systems that enhance the functionality and interactions of renewable energy and energy storage technologies in grid-connected and grid-forming configurations.
Dr. Amin Khakparvar
Co-Founder, VP of Storage Technologies
Dr. Amin Khakparvar is the Vice President of Storage Technologies and a co-founder at Enerbund. He received his PhD from the University of Alberta and an MSc from Sharif University of Technology in Power Electronics. He co-founded his first startup, OPTO Power Electronics, in 2015, leading the R&D team in the production of different types of high-voltage and high-current DC/DC converters and high-frequency inverters. In 2017, he was recognized as one of the top 20 young managers to participate in the Manager Training Program in Germany. He has led the product design of 2kW-45kW bidirectional charger products at Enerbund. His expertise includes low-profile converter design with patented planar magnetic structures and developing precise magnetic component modeling and electromagnetic interference (EMI) filters.
Kevin Mako
VP of Strategy
Kevin Mako is a Consultant, Builder, and Investor. He founded, scaled, and sold Mako Invent, the largest physical consumer product design firm in Canada, and the largest startup-focused hardware design firm in the USA. He has won over 20 business and professional awards, has worked with over 1,000 hardware startups, owns and manages dozens of infrastructure and land projects, lectures at the Masters of Engineering Program at Toronto Metropolitan University, is a private pilot, and is the past host of The Product Startup Podcast.
